Oxi One sequencing EssenceFM
Soarer![]() | Hereβs my first complete track with the new Oxi One sequencer sequencing the EssenceFM. Drums and synth tracks are going through Elektron Octatrack for effects. All sounds come from the EssenceFM - most of them youβll find in my recent soundbank available here. I can very much recommend the Oxi One - it is fantastic with the EssenceFM! |

| Teomi | Nice track! I'm actually looking to get a sequencer to pair with the EFM. Have you looked at the new Squarp Hapax? I'm basically between the Oxi and Hapax at this point... What I find very weird is that no review or walkthrough video about either of those is showing how to use the sequencer other than in step mode or by playing the pads but rather record patterns using a MIDI keyboard. For me, this would still be the fastest way to record live. I'm cusrious if you looked at Hapax and what you thought? And, as far as the OXI, how will it behave when recording onto it using a keyboard. Thanks! Eitan |
Soarer![]() | Hi Eitan Didn't see your reply until now. I did check Hapax when it was released but since I already own Oxi One and is happy with it and Hapax being much bigger and heavier I had no reason to switch. Oxi One does plenty of what I want. |
Avi F![]() | late reply, but thats awesome!! i just got an oxi one myself, im trying to get the mask1 to work with it [still no audio] - how did you configure it with essence fm? Maybe i need to update my settings in some way. Ok, actually i just was able to get audio from it!! now to figure out how to sequence [playing live is easier for me than recording, it is my challenge haha] |
Avi F![]() | Ok, I had a little time today to try and get started sequencing my efm mkii for the first time. I have the oxi one setting up essence fm as 2 separate poly tracks, and 2 multitracks. I can hear on the two poly tracks, the sounds with bank and program change how I want - and was able to enter sequence notes for each track [just 16 steps for now, to see how it works] however, both sequence tracks, output the same sound. I might reach out to the oxi one discord to figure out this, but I'm a little stumped at the moment. EFM transmits globally on omni mode, yes? So I think [?] id have to limit each track to one channel, but I dont know if this is right or not. Edit - ok, I see now that I need to use performance mode to direct to the different midi channels! cool. |
KODAMO![]() | Yes in fact Performance mode is the only "real" mode of the EssenceFM - other modes are simply here for editing convenience. You probably already know that you can do everything from that mode (editing patches, voices) and this is convenient because when saving your performance, all related patches and voices will be automatically saved. Note that you can also remap MIDI channels, so for example you can layer two patches by setting two parts to the same MIDI channel. |
| pecado | In the video β22β / Oxi One & EssenceFM, From where do you connected the MIDI in of the Oxi One? |
