Balanced Outputs
jdSting | Hi Kodamo, I'm really enjoying using the Mask 1. So far I've only been using it plugged directly into my audio interface with balanced audio cables. I have several guitar pedals that I use with other synths, Eventide, Red Panda, etc. Does the Mask 1 support unbalanced connections as well? Is it safe to use TS cables? Thank you! |
KODAMO | Hi, it depends if you got your Mask1 very recently - latest units design have been slightly adapted to better support TS cables. You can try anyway, it will not harm the Mask1 but you may get distorsion. If you get distorsion, a solution is to make a balanced to unbalanced cable : connect grounds (sleeves) together, and only take the tip OR ring on the balanced side, to connect it to the tip on the unbalanced side. |
AndH123 | I got a cheap behringer hum eliminator box that I plug the balanced cables into and then send TS into pedals or patch bay. It works well enough. |
| jdSting | Thanks for the responses. I used TS cables directly into an Eventide Blackhole and had no issues with noise or distortion. |
