Missing Ethernet Port

Schecky_the_Techie
Just saw the post about removing the Ethernet port due to chip shortages. I just got mine a month ago from perfect circuit and was confused and disappointed by the missing port. While I do understand most users never use it, my (admittedly insane) setup has (at current ) 6x iconnectivity mioXL with me using rtp midi extensively as pathways between them. I was looking forward to being able to directly add the essence to that setup and not require sacrificing another set of din I/o. Will you at any point be adding the network port back in? Will there be an option to send the unit in for upgrade?

6 MioXLs is vast!

I have one and I found a nice trick to add din ports with a bit of soldering and a kit:

You get 8 high quality ports for not a lot of money. You can do some routing over USB, or I just got a teensy Ethernet kit to try rtpmidi. I also have a little esp whenever board that should ruin rtpmidi.

I will do that I've run my essence over Ethernet and it is handy but not completely necessary.

Ethernet port unfortunately won't come back on the EssenceFM. Chip shortage is mostly gone, but the parts have largely increased in price, and to avoid increasing the EssenceFM price for customers we prefer not to re-include it.
Upgrading is theoretically possible but not an easy task...
