Mask1 parameter sequencing with external gear

At first, I only had it sounding really crazy and strange, but after some careful tweaking I got some nicer sounds. It's still an experiment in progress but so far I'm getting pretty neat sounds though i still find them a bit jarring sonically (still trying to find the sweet spots). What I really like, is that because so many midi parameters are mapped in the mask1, I was able to route up to four lanes of the oxi's 128-step parameter sequencing, to different mask1 destinations, and also two more parameters on mask1, to two oxi one lfos. 3 of the 4 mod lanes that I chose, included osc1 delta env speed, osc1 env start point, osc1 env decay (with the osc 1 env loop turned on), and the 2 upper mask ranges (256 - 511) I assigned to the 2 oxi one lfos, using midi ccs. I have the mask1 connected to the oxi via usb midi, since the 5 pin is used to have the mask 1 keyboard trigger my multi poly and my essence fm synths as well, on other channels. Essentially, on a single oxi one poly mode track, i can modulate up to six different mask1 parameters. I don't know if i will use this method often, but it was fairly easy to set up. What other external sequencer gear setups have you tried with your mask 1 to 'unlock' parameter sequencing? Any suggestions on which make for 'smoother' sonic transitions? |
